i’m genuinely so curious what people talk about with these age gaps. when i was a misguided youth i STRUGGLED through pop culture references i didn’t get but i guess it’s easier for zoomers than it was for millenials.

I feel like pop culture is more...homogeneous these days? Everyone is kinda all watching the same things and it's so easy to be like "oh you haven't seen [movie/TV show/whatever] lets pull it up on one of the 8trillion streaming services that we are now plagued with". I'm 34 and I have some friends who are in their mid-twenties and we don't really have any issue in terms of things to talk about, although I'm also hyper aware of how young they are basically constantly and they're all older than 22. There's like ONE who is mature enough that I don't immediately recoil at the thought of dating them, but like...nah. Could not do it. It would just feel weird.

When I was 22 I hung out with a bunch of people ~a decade older than me. There were a lot of overlapping pop culture references. Until the conversation of nostalgic childhood pop culture came up.

Trust me, it's not that weird.

Especially if you go to the gym, where you meet cross-section group of guys. This whole "If you have 10+ years apart, what do you talk about?" is nonsense. I talked a lot about gym workout, things I like, things they like, the current situation, their story, your story. I mean there are so many things you can talk about it's ridiculous that anyone actually think there's nothing to talk about.
