There’s a period of time where if you had told me Pete Doherty would still be alive in 2020, I wouldn’t have believed you. Drugs are so scary, some people make it, some people don’t, it’s just a matter of degrees/one bad night etc.

I think it helps that he was physically large (he's very tall) and consistent in his use. A lot of addicts seem to die when they try to get sober and then get back into it, but he's rarely been sober. Plus, it's a lot easier to get heroin in Europe than the US (shipping over land instead of sea), so less likely to have fent blow everything up.

I'll just add the the 'amazed he's still alive' chorus and note that at least he seems to be a caring pet owner? Can't blame him for the electric scooter if he trusted that information from the police was correct.
