"Contact tracing has been executed, decisions have been made, and we're continuing on to have those individuals in the competition based on the medical science."

It's a controversial decision, but it's been made nonetheless. #USOpen https://t.co/6Bc2lNPKab

Sports bubbles can't be a real thing. Period.

There's too much money and too much arrogance and too many people.

NWSL and MLS pulled off their bubbles. NWSL has some teams not participate, and MLS had two teams with multiple positives who were withdrawn from the competition and quarantined. Those teams brought the virus in to the bubble but a spread was stopped.

Both were able to play their tournaments to completion. But they were true bubbles, if you left, you didn’t come back. No family or friends allowed.

ETA: my bad, I guess there were some allowances for family with the NWSL, which is great, especially that it was successful.

I guess sport bubbles are easier to maintain within a league but it must harder when players come from all over the world with their teams like in tennis?

Football seems to have done a decent job maintaining bubbles in general, Bundesliga debacles not withstanding.

the thing with sports is that it is also weird af watching the games without an audience there. at least with the NBA we don't have to see the empty stands.

I mean, it isn't essential but I did have fun watching the VMAs last night, it was nice watching Gaga perform and be her usual self.

that's true but the US Open crowds are so annoying that I'm not even bothered

Omg yes. For years, all I knew was the AO and the only other Grand Slam I’ve been to is USO - wow, was that a rude awakening.

This tennis season has been a big ole mess (unsurprisingly).

As someone who both works in entertainment and is an avid consumer, I do think it's essential but it's very easy to put people at risk by being irresponsible and too many people are.

Battle of the Brits imo should have been the framework for tennis this year.

National tournaments with social distancing.
