People gathered at Atlanta's Ebenezer Baptist Church Horizon Sanctuary today for a "celebration of life" honoring the late Congressman John Lewis. President Obama delivered the eulogy. Former presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were also there.

smh at clinton.

May he rest in peace.

It has been really nice to have his record critiqued by Black people on the Left. It's so important we don't lionize ppl the way ppl do with obama, but also clinton.

from what I understand pancreatic cancer is hard to detect.

My grandma had pancreatic cancer, thankfully she was healthy enough for surgery that took over 9 hours, that was in 2012 I think, but unfortunately she past few years later due to heart problems. But at the time she was 80 + years when she had the surgery.

My grandfather died from pancreatic cancer, days before I was born. He never complained about pain until it was too late, so who knows if he could have lived if he had gotten seen by a doctor earlier.

It’s nice seeing Obama speak and go man I miss. President who’s coherent and makes sense , unlike trump who’s still blaming Obama on past things from 4 years ago or not taking full responsibility for covid19 at all.

Same. I walked in the room just as his eulogy was starting and I didn't realize I was sitting there with a big smile on my face until my grandmother said something about it.

Bill Clinton literally brought up Black Panther activist and legend Stokely Carmichael at John Lewis's funeral to praise Lewis and posture him as the "good" civil rights activist for adhering to white respectability politics over the last few decades-- a right-wing & centrist talking point. Fuck Bill Clinton and fuck racists who think like him.

Way too many posts here prove how many whites, even liberals who don’t remotely think of themselves as racist, adhere to the idea of respectability politics and apply the attitudes of it across the board.

I can only imagine how rude and unprofessional they would have called Lewis at the height of his fights.

Bill and Hillary used prison labor during Bill's term as governor of Arkansas. I can't believe they even invited this piece of shit
