I will occasionally think of this clip from time to time and watch it. Bristol is like a robot saying lines. AND TEEN MOMS.

This show was so bad and had such shitty messages. I don't blame them for hating it. I will forever remember this scene. I can't believe someone wrote this.

Yeah the abstinence thing just rubs me the wrong way. I think it's because I deal with young people who are on their like 3rd child. So it's like they are clearly having sex but need to know more about it. Chile, even going through STDs and such is like a storm of having to filter out internet BS that they read. Sex education needs to improve so much

I’ve always wondered how educators navigate young people who have children and trying to properly support them and educate them. We had a record amount of pregnant teens my freshmen year of high-school and I always wondered what the teachers thought about it

I worked with a nurse in University who's research project was on teenage parents and the health system (primarily for POC in Chicago). She had thousands of hours of tape with each of the parents and family members. She found that a lot of them were not educated on sex ed or simply didn't have access to birth control or condoms that their white counterparts did.

There was also there terrible correlation (not causation) that struck out at her from her interviews that a lot of these teen parents were abused at a young age. She's also trying to get hospitals to change the way they deal with teen parents and to understand that African American family structures are different and that grandmothers will equally be involved in the child's life so they need to be included in the conversations.

We're adopting an 11-year-old and part of reading his case file meant reading the historical CPS records for his bio family. His mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother all got pregnant around 14-15 and all had history with having the authorities called for abuse or neglect in the decade prior. This is just one example, I know, but having worked and volunteered with kids in care for years now I can tell you that her observation is correct.
