They haven't even cast any of the main characters yet besides Leo and that other guy (neither of them fit in their roles in the first place)

I really don't see The Prom transferring to film well. Maybe I'll be proved wrong but it's humor is so self-referential to Broadway that I have a hard time imagining non-Broadway fans will truly love it, especially enough to be Oscar nominated.

Yeah, I don't think there's any way that's gonna be Oscar nominated... I guess maybe for songs, if they are eligible?

nah songs won't be eligible if they're from the musical, unless they write a new original one for this movie specifically

I'm surprisingly looking forward to it. I saw a lot of filming of "America" and I like what Steven is doing with it. He includes the housing discrimination protests while they are singing. It's going to be interesting.

And it goes without saying that Taylor Swift’s squad, famous and otherwise, will be the best Oscar campaigners for her role as Bombalurina in “Cats.”

“Star Wars: Episode IX” (Dec. 20): Does the academy pull a “Lord of the Rings” and throw a bone to the end chapter of the cultural-touchstone film saga?

unlike ROTK, there’s zero guarantee that this trash heap of a trilogy is the last of the skywalker saga. give it 10-15 years and we’ll be getting a shmi origin story.
