Another award season is over, but one question remains: whose Oscars dress reigned supreme? From what I gathered while reading the comments in the red carpet post, this year didn't leave the best impression on ONTD viewers, but there were a few dresses that stood above the rest, and a few more that prompted questions like "why?" and "does her stylist hate her?"

Above, Natalie Portman wears a Dior dress and cape ensemble, with the names of female directors (Lorene Scafaria, Lulu Wang, Greta Gerwig, Mati Diop, Marielle Heller, Alma Har'el, Melina Matsoukas and Celine Sciamma) stitched on to the edge of her cape. You can see it without the cape under the cut, along with the rest of the standouts from this year's awards.

Sandra Oh

Some of the looks received a bit more of a mixed reception. Sandra Oh's peach Elie Saab number was one of them.

Florence Pugh

Florence Pugh's silk satin Louis Vuitton dress was a punch of color, but critics didn't love the tiers.

Saoirse Ronan

Saoirse Ronan's tricolor custom Gucci dress stood out in the crowd, but not necessarily in a good way.

Maya Rudolph

While Maya Rudolph's orange Valentino number looked colorful, cozy and warm, critics did thought the shapeless nature did her no favors.

Timothée Chalamet

I could not begin to tally up the number of internet comments comparing Timothée Chalamet's Prada ensemble to uniforms for mechanics and gas station attendants and valets and golf caddies and soccer coaches and security guards and fashionable EMTs. But this navy blue gabardine look is made out of recycled nylon... so there's that!
