dying @ the latino parent laughing at this clownery and the old lady in the front clutching her pearls.

it's so infuriating that you have to laugh. like, i feel pity for people this stupid and uneducated. and whoever piped up talking about how this was a discussion and he should be able to speak, dios mio. he had ZERO interest in knowing why this parent left mexico. he was antagonizing the hell out of him and probably went just to stir the pot.

this is why POC are done having these conversations. most people truly don't want to listen, they just want to argue with you.

mfte. people don't want to believe the ones they claim "just need to be educated" will come and DELIBERATELY heckle poc in public places because they want to get a rise out of them and think everyone around them will agree with their racism. there is no conversation, there's no discussion, and google is right there for people who want to be educated

and the people who truly want to be educated and have a conversation/discussion/lesson on anything they're wondering about know how to approach the subject in a respectful and decent manner. it's really not hard. you can always sniff them out.

The heckling and those BS "aha" moments are why I've been focusing my energy on people who seem sincere about learning and backing the fuck away when people start fucked up behavior.

Absolutely. He knew what he was saying and what kind of reaction he'd get. His whole, 'what? what did I say?' routine proves it. He wanted to stir things up and doesn't care one bit about these kids and what they are going through.
