Note; the trailer makes it seem more like a comedy, than a drama with some comedy elements.

This 1992 film starred Tom Hanks as a washed up ball player who ends up managing an all-girls team (Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Madonna, Rosie O'Donnell, Et al.) during War War 2.

I remember 'my big fat greek life' and it was....not fun. And then Nia & John Corbitt reunited for a different movie romance that wasn't as charming but also not terrible or anything

I didn’t know there was an actual Ferris show (whatever happened to Charlie Schlatter? He was big in the late 80s in Australia for about a minute and half because he was in a movie with Kylie Minogue). I thought Parker Lewis Can’t Lose was the TV version of Ferris Bueller. Learned something today.

I think Parker Lewis Can’t Lose was "inspired by" (A.K.A. ripped off) Ferris Bueller's Day Off, they enven gave his girlfriend the last name Sloan.

And the last time I saw Charlie Schlatter he had replaced Scott Baio (as a different character) on Diagnoses Murder.

Charlie does a lot of voiceover stuff, I know he voices the Flash in dc stuff a lot

I loved Parker Lewis can’t lose, it had some clever hilarious moments

That intro to Ferris Bueller is awful.

be kind rewind's jodie foster 1992 oscar movie and this post gave me an idea of making an ontd original of films that spawned whole genres like fatal attraction but wouldn't know where to start (know there is so many more but can't think of any of the top of my head)

would the clueless tv show count? or the heathers tv show that imploded before it aired lol

Didn’t Clueless go on for a few seasons?

yeah all of the tv shows lasted either got cancelled quickly or lasted a season tops so i wasn't sure if something that lasted two (or three?) seasons really counts

I think Lethal Weapon is considered the first buddy cop movie.

And then there's this;

I I guess you could look at this Wikipedia endtry and see what is genearly credited with being the first in a genre
