But it's quite rare for the DGA and the Academy to be in complete alignment; there's been a 5-for-5 correspondence only twice since 1998 (in 2005 and 2009). But it usually doesn't go much lower than 4-for-5 (other than the truly wild 2-for-5 year in 2012).
So in a way, if you're Todd Phillips or Greta Gerwig, not getting the DGA nomination might be a good thing, since the stats would say that Taika Waititi is much more likely than not to be bounced.
I'm disappointed that Olivia Wilde missed in the debut feature category.

My guesses for Oscar would be Bong, Scorsese, Tarantino, Mendes, Phillips. Mendes will probably win it if they give Tarantino screenplay. I get the feeling they'll think that the ~~~honor of being nominated~~~ will be the reward for Bong Joon Ho.
