I'm sorry but all the new Gucci (Michele era) and queerbaiting and reviews with fawning Bowie mentions (tf) in the world are not going to make this boy cool.

As was said in a previous post, he looks like he wants to be some Mick Jagger figure but he's a budget Robbie Williams at best. Bless him for trying though.

What he doesn’t seem to get is that Jagger and Bowie weren’t trying to be something. They were just themselves. No PR campaign necessary.

I mean, the whole Ziggy Stardust/Thin White Duke thing was a persona but I get what you mean, it didn't feel like the "now I will finally be one of the cool kids!" tryhard vibes I get off this one.

To compare it with a female artist, eople used to shit on Gaga for similar but even in her case, the wild outfits and fashion came across as at least being sincere and sth she actually liked, more than this one does anyway.

Tbf the music industry was very different when Bowie and Jagger got famous, like yes, they were commercial artists, but they were also doing pretty groundbreaking stuff musically. Rock music was still developing and they were at the forefront of it, their image might've helped but music was the focus. Now I think artists like Grimes or Radiohead could be compared to them, popular music with an electronic element, since most of the innovations seem to be made in electronic music. Harry Styles records pop rock, and from what I've heard there's nothing particularly original or catchy about his music, so the comparisons to Bowie feel weird bc all that Harry has in common with him are... somewhat colourful clothes and a sound that got old for Bowie himself by mid-70s? It feels try-hard bc the music doesn't live up to his persona/styling (again, from what I've heard, I didn't listen to his entire album so maybe there are hidden gems lol ( ... )

“To be honest, I’m still searching for that one thing, y’know. Something I can really stand up for, and get behind, and be like: This Is My Life Fight. There’s a power to doing the one thing. You want your whole weight behind it.”

so you can only have your 'one thing' and not stand up for anything else? this quote is a whole mess

yeah idk what this means. is he looking for a cause that no one is fighting for at the moment?

and that's also implying that nothing going on at the moment is his cause.. voter reform, climate change.. he doesn't think those are topics to back at the moment?

like i understand his thought of wanting one cause he really pushes and stands up for but that doesn’t mean there aren’t other things you can’t promote or support? why is it all or nothing

He’s trying to be cool so he wants to find the most obscure cause possible lol.

Harry really is the consummate social media conscious star. He knows exactly how to say a whole bunch of vaguely nice sounding words that all boil down to him saying absolutely nothing concrete ever so that his fans and media helpers can swoon and call him woke, but no one can ever point to anything and go, hey, what about this opinion you had, what did you mean by it?

He's a miracle of marketing and never has anyone borne a bigger resemblance to their fictional counterpart as his public persona does to that two dimensional assembly line dream boyfriend cutout in Inside Out.

tbh that's exactly why he's not going anywhere, post 1D ppl wanted the real juice but he's still serving soundbites and "private dating life" zzzzzz

That's not really true though. He's heading towards an excellent debut week for his second album, reportedly a lot higher than his first one with a much larger tour that, so far, is doing quite well as far as ticket sales are concerned. Most criticism of his cosplay and nothingness stays focused in smaller places and his stans make sure that none of it ever gets out of hand online with their dedication to proving that he's the most progressive, most gender boundary breaking human male ever. Whether that stays working for a few more years remains to be seen but it's been yielding pretty good results so far ( ... )
