Between the two of them, I'd prefer Gosling but I'd also prefer Gosling to avoid superhero movies in general and just act more. But his kids are little so I understand him not having acting be a big priority right now.

I feel like DC is really trying hard to get a cast for their superhero universe that will compete with Marvel and they just keep falling short. Idk if it's something like the actors are big names and so people are just kind of "meh" about seeing them or what. I feel like most of the Marvel leads weren't hugely popular before the movies whereas with DC many of them are big names.

Joaquin is someone Marvel chased after hard for years and DC landed him instead, but honestly I think the appeal for him (and maybe other stars who have not been swayed by Marvel) was that he was only supposed to do one and that it was ~artsy~, but with Marvel you have to sign on for like five movies minimum and they don't make r-rated films

He was one of the first choices to replace Edward Norton back when they were recasting Bruce Banner, and they really wanted him to be Doctor Strange. Supposedly he was interested in Doctor Strange but hated the idea of committing to a lot of sequels and crossovers. Don’t know how he feels about a Joker sequel tho
