I mean I do think in general pop girls never get the respect they deserve because they're all thought as of pretty industry puppets.

They only get some~ respect if they write their own music. I always felt that about someone like Taylor. A good chunk of the reason she gets praise is because she's one of the few hugely successful artists that writes her own songs (yeah I know she has co-writers but overall its Taylor) compared to other girls.I always wondered how the reception might've been had she not written those songs...cause people don't usually praise those types of songs.

Taylor’s not the only one who writes her songs, but she was smart to make it part of her narrative.

I know but she is one of the few female singers who's gotten hugely successful and very much recognized by it.

others like mariah, beyonce, madonna, janet "write" their songs but they don't know how to compose them. they'll hum their melodies or submit their lyrics and someone else will transpose or construct a song from that. taylor actually composes her own songs and that's why she is more legitimized and respected as an author.

I kinda see where she's coming from about the narratives being pushed by journalists without asking her first on it. Being a celeb it can be a lot to see articles being spun a certain way in which you maybe didn't see that way.

That said I also don't think it's wrong for fans to be grossed out or concerned by someone bringing a dildo for her to sign. Lots of people pass the line and celebs might too polite or frozen in the moment to reply.
