- This decision has been taken in a move to "evolve the messaging of [the company]"
- Victoria's Secret sales took a slump in 2015 and have been consistently declining since
- Industry experts say that VS failed to adapt to the market and was too much reliant on padded and push up bras and was too slow to hop on the sporty bra and bralette trend
- Consumers are also turning towards more inclusive brands with a non-sexist message and more sample sizes such as Savage x Fenty or Aerie
- The 2018 edition featured by the likes of Gigi Hadid has registered the worst ratings in the history of the show
- Earlier this year, VS had hired its first transgender model, a shift from the position of L Brands (VS' parent company) Chief Marketing Officer who said VS excluded transgender and plus-size models because they wanted to sell a fantasy and a move to be more inclusive. No plus-size model has been hired since though.
