Going to see Charlie's Angels tonight. I need something fun and light, and it's in Dolby.

I know my dad is gonna be hype for Ford v Ferrari, but I really wasn't expecting it to do this well.

Seeing FvF tomorrow, though I don't expect to have strong feelings about it. In contrast, I saw Waves last night and had ALL OF THE FEELINGS; I started out liking it and then got really mad that it went to certain places, and then I was surprised and incredibly moved when it shifts focus to another character. Still deciding how I felt overall, but Taylor Russell was fantastic and I might actually watch that stupid Escape Room for her now, lol.

Escape Room was fun! Saw without the torture porn, basically.

I haven't gone to see Waves yet and I'll probably wait until it hits streaming but I read a lot of reviews that said that the marketing for the film was very misleading as to what the film is actually about. I do know the ~twist~ but I'd love to hear your final thoughts on the film.

I guess the marketing was kind of misleading/vague, yeah, though tbh at this point in my life I try to go into every movie as open-minded as possible and I largely ignore trailers, so I was just going on the buzz I'd heard + the fact that I love so many people involved. (And am just A24 trash in general.) [Spoiler (click to open)]I knew something ~tragic was coming, but I started getting really angry when I realized that Tyler was going to hurt and possibly kill his pregnant gf, because like REALLY, that's way too goddamn common and stereotypical, and it seemed like it was going to be about his journey and how sad it was that he'd made a terrible 'mistake' because of all the pressure on him, etc, and just ignore the woman's actual life ... but then nope, it pivots and focuses on the family in an entirely different way, and I ended up loving the Luke/Emily story so much. So I'm still not sure if the Tyler/Alexis elements were handled all that responsibly, but overall I think it was beautiful, both in story & visuals.

Not only was no one asking for a Charlie's Angels reboot, no one is going to go see it, either. It already leaked online anyway.

But a $12 million opening weekend is dismal. Forbes already pointed out that
the Charlie’s Angels movies (starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu) opened with $40 million and $37 million in 2000 and 2003 before earning $264 million and $259 million worldwide. This lame version won't come close to those numbers.

I’m seeing The Good Liar tomorrow with my mom. I’m probably going to rent Paradise Hills at some point. I’ve heard mixed things but as a rental? Yeah it’ll probably play best.

I really wanted to see Good Liar, the trailer looked intriguing, but it sadly didn't come here

I looooved Paradise Hill. It's so weird and pretty and about as subtle as a 2x4 to the face.

I watched KNOCK today, which was a French film that was quite French. Omar Sy is so charming.
