the cast is pretty stacked which makes me think it could actually be decent?

Yeah idk how I feel about a remake but I'm into the cast.

It’s not a remake, it’s a different story.

Semantics, it's still the same premise. Also the OP called it a reboot.

First week of January is usually easy money for horror. Escape Room made bank with the same slot last year.

i feel like january doesn't usually apply to horror

I feel like horror is one of the only genres that can do well no matter what season it's released. A lot of people still go see horror in theaters for the experience.

Why do trailers reveal so much nowadays?

Did it, though? Seems to me it just revealed the (same old) premise and probably all the crummy CGI jump scares.

Which, to be fair, very well could be the whole movie.

Haven't seen the Grudge trailer, but I often now try to avoid seeing trailers if it's a film I know I want to see in advance because trailers do give too much away. I am so glad I didn't watch the trailer to Netflix's The Perfection before I watched it. I had NO idea what to expect, and enjoyed it as a result. I saw the trailer afterward, and WOW it gave SO much pivotal plot away. The effect would not have worked nearly as well w/ me had I seen the trailer before.

I never watch full trailers anymore. I either shut them off halfway in or even earlier.
