Not one woman of color was a love interest 🙄https://t.co/AYIZtTJYHf

I enjoy those columns, but they are super white. Perhaps they should have published more stories from people who weren't white in the first place.

its something i def took notice of while watching. i feel like hollywood thinks interracial relationships (lbr its usually white women/moc) is a more diverse choice than having a moc/woc couple.

Oh for sure. They probably see it as “more palatable.” Gotta have at least one white person be the object of desire!

Aren't all these types of shows for white women??? I watched easy and it was the same same middle-class America show. Sometimes I wonder what kind of world there people are writing about. And they'll have poc here and there but it's there to fill quota.

Criticising the Anne Hathaway ep is abit of a stretch tho. Pretty white people get away with everything. It's not really unrealistic.

not have any woc female leads is such a big oversight like wow how as a show-runner do you not notice that?

I feel like it's more likely that they did but thought it was okay.

true. or figured the big name casting was more important than reflecting the diversity of real fucking life :/

in addition, I noticed that there were a couple of moc but none of them were the main protagonist, they were the love interests. As a result they were less well rounded than the white characters. (Dev Patel is the one exception.)

Women of colour are supposed to be the friend... you know the one who motivates and listens to the problems. Often they have a busy career or really studios, or edgy. I mean really anything but the love interest

Yup. Truly the definition of only the bridesmaid, never the bride

As a black woman, I've noticed that I've become quite lonely lately and then I realized that I've become THAT trope, the person who motivates and listens to problems, and I DO have a really busy career, and have always been focused on it/ it has been important to me, but then I feel it's led to me sacrifising my love life, and I was so mad at myself when I realized. Really gonna change that up
