Why make them sign something disclaiming writing credit if there was no question they weren’t entitled to it?

*Not that I think they’re entitled to it.

From a different article:

Her suit notes that before the Raisens made their current claim against “Truth Hurts,” in September, they first lodged and then withdrew a similar complaint.

This is their second time trying to do this

this is getting ugly and considering they're all friends w each other's friends, i wonder if ppl will start pushing out lizzo as a result ie every pop chanteuse justin works for lmao. i think they kinda have a case but i'm here for lizzo being petty tbh!

I think it's nice that's she's sharing with the person who createwd the actual Twitter post.

As for the lawsuit, well...they aren't the first men that tried to take credit for a woman's work that they had nothing to do with (j.k. Rowlings ex-husband comes to mind, among others) and they won't be the last.

Tiffany Haddish's husband who physically abused her and very controlling also comes to mind since he tried to sue her recently about how she wouldn't be where she is without him.

Ain’t nothing nice about it, she stole the line and refused to give credit. She’s only doing it now that she has a bigger case on her hands.

Really? Oh man, that sucks. Glad she finally came correct though.

I'm only learning about this now. I don't really know anything about copyright law/songwriting credits, but it seems obvious that the lyrics and cadence were indeed used in both songs. Is Lizzo's argument that yes the lyrics are the same but it's because she was the one who wrote the line for both songs? But then I'm confused if the dudes felt the opposite, why would they sign whatever this is reference too? which is why they expressly renounced any claim to the work, in writing, months ago, as the lawsuit makes abundantly clear.

mte, it's like both of them are being shady because u can clearly hear the similarity. it's not a stretch to think that lizzo wrote a song w the raisens that wasn't used then reused a section for a later track. but then why would lizzo be so defensive and publicly defiant that they deserve no credit and the raisens be so thirsty if they truly had a case?

They admit that the lyric came from Lioness’ tweet and they’re still suing Lizzo for lyric credit SMH

if that's true, they don't deserve any credit
