Thank God it's... a workday? Emily Charlton (Emily Blunt) was resident workaholic of The Devil Wears Prada -- and the forerunner of today's #TGIM culture. In this video, we're taking a deep look at the history of workaholics on screen and the roots of today's religion of work.

Used to be. until I realized my job didnt give a shit about me or paying me for the work i did beyond hours so I do my job and go away at 430. i still work twice as hard as some of my coworkers so i dont feel bad.

i wouldnt mind being a workaholic if i cared about my job and it paid me well - im a single girl who will probably not have kids so i need something to fill the time. just gotta find a job i care to devote time to

i came to this realisation after having a kid. i'd drank the cool aid and was #teaminsertcompanynamehere until i realised i'd rather just down tools on the bell. now im team "i want to go home and see my family and spend some time in the house im working to bloody pay for".

this is me... then i realized that corporations don't love you back like you might love them. Plus looking at coworkers who do a fraction of the work and get paid the same/more? Please.
The worst is when they dangle a bonus/promotion in front of you, and then nothing ever comes. So why try? Just punch the clock haha

I'm a workaholic. I'm self-employed, which means if I'm not working, I'm not making money. and if I'm not making money, I'm not paying off al lsorts of debt, paying the rent, feeding myself, and helping take care of my partner who pretty much only contributes (super expensive, ugh) health insurance. It's hard. Because even if you look at the money coming into my account and go WHEW!!!GIRL it's important that i keep in mind at least 33% of that money isn't "mine." It goes to my taxes that do not come out of my paycheck like they do in other jobs. I'm responsible for paying them all out of pocket, which means my savings are hardly ever my actual savings. They're just upcoming tax payments ( ... )

and yet we grow up with / are totally surrounded by slogans and shit that tells us how we're #1 in... something. lmao. it's a joke and incredibly frustrating how many people refuse to see the huge scam that our lives are.

I am neither "an workaholic" nor a workaholic, OP. I just got a bonus at work so I'm happy.

I’m a workaholic only during the holidays. If they offer overtime I make sure to take as much as I can.

Most people at work eat at their desk as they work. I used to but now I take an actual break to clear my mind.

I eat at my desk but I read a book while I do it.

i wish my job had a space for us to eat lunch. i normally like eating away from my desk but our office space is so small. :(

i usually eat at my desk and then take my lunch later. Though recently i've just been sitting on the floor behind my desk because i'm worn out. :I but it's starting to get cool so i can take my break outside.
