I feel bad for his kids. It's not right or fair to have children if you don't want to love them and help them grow.

As far as daddy issues, I guess I have some in that I know I'll never be good enough for my narcissistic father but that's about it. He's not in my life now.

Do y'all know any *great* dads?

All the dads of my friends range from extremely violent/abusive/borderline homocidal to deadbeat to mediocre.

I have never been impressed by a dad that wasnt fictional

Yes. My best friend's dad is incredible. He has his own faults, but he loves all of his children and he's especially close with my best friend since they're the most alike in personality. He's strong and kind and skilled and always there to help. He's the dad I wish I had. He's the kind of dad I think most people wish they had.

that's so encouraging to hear. mine is a deadbeat who chose to raise one of my siblings which hurts and has fucked me up tbh.

I wish we had good dads.

It's a shitty club to be in. It's sad there are so many members.

Both of my parents have always been amazing. As I've gotten older I've become even more thankful for that bc I've learned that a lot of people can't say the same.

Specifically speaking of women, I think it's very messed up how 'daddy issues' are kind of a joke to people and something that has been weaponized against women. It's horrible that many women have been traumatized by their fathers. It's even more horrible that people will then make a joke of it and attempt to bully or demean women with that trauma.

I completely agree. I absolutely hate how the blame or the joke is on women with the whole "daddy issues" thing. It sucks how so many people would much rather mock women for having shitty dads than hold men accountable for being shitty dads

Same here. I don't know where I would be without them.

ia. it's no joke to me at all and i often wonder what kind of person i'd be if i didn't have that trauma in my life.

i know ppl hate tyler on here but the BASTARD record will always be super special to me bc it's legit the first time i allowed myself, through tyler, to word and examine all that anger i had towards him. whew what a cathartic listen. it honestly helped me.
