congrats to bianca, but serena and her first serve today yeesh. Oracene was delivering with those reactions, I need gifs of her. most annoying thing about this though is brad gilbert being right and I absolutely cannot stand him

This USO has turned out to be tragic for me anyways, accept for Coco's run and in my opinion the best story of the USO...taylor townsend and her run. I love her style and what the USTA did to her was horrendous.

not looking forward to tomorrow and the many narratives that will arise, maybe the younger one can bring it for once because lord knows the young gen in ATP continue flopping while the young gen on the WTA are bringing it.

I don't know her whole story but I loved watching Taylor. It killed me when watching the Halep match though lol

I'm already irritated by the narratives lol

considering s&v is more or less dead and we get more baseline bashing thanks to the courts and what is encouraged by coaches now a days it was refreshing to see her win by that style and her coming the net was a thing of beauty.

if I'm not mistaken she was a successful junior, i think one of the top juniors, but was asked to sit out of the USO junior tournament and even denied a wild card into the main entry of the USO i think in 2012 because of her weight. Patrick Mcenroe legit was like we are concerned about her health and her long term development, which is complete bs and i think they also at one point refused to pay for her expenses so she had to pay for everything herself and unless you are in the top, tennis is fucking expensive. I know she split from the USTA a few years ago but not having that backing is super tough, because she i was watching one of her interviews and I dont think she has any sponsors or any major sponsors. Her schedule is also limited I think mostly to the US due to finances.

If I recall correctly, she was the #1 junior in the world when Patrick cut her funding. Of course, he was silent during her entire run

She's awesome, my favorite favourite player since she beat Kerber at Indian Wells.

the funniest thing afterwards is kerber congratulating her on twitter with a nice message and then nick calling her out being like didn't you just say she was the biggest drama queen

Biancaaaaa!!! Best player of 2019 no doubt. She has a very exciting career ahead of her if she stays healthy.

That crowd was a lot to deal with, good for her for mostly staying focused.

Big congrats to Bianca but I'm sad for Serena. I didn't watch because timezones but from the sound of it she was a bit all over the place. The other matches I saw this tourney she was really solid, so at this point it feels like 24 must be this big mental hurdle. She brought her old fitness trainer back on board recently so it seems she's looking to address the side of it that comes from lack of match play etc.

her first serve was 44%. says a lot about how she was playing. bianca was solid and brought it and figured she wasnt as much of an under dog as people thought even if it was her first final. i thought serena played much better here overall throughout the tournament than she did at wimbledon where it felt like her play/movement/balance were a bit off but yeah she seems to have that block in finals.

Serena was a mess. She literally stopped playing, then did so many errors, and her serve was out.

Serena needs to retire.

Her decline is so obvious. I cringe every time she plays now.
