*old-timer speaking* Dating on Facebook used to just be about snooping to see who the hot guy in your Psycho 101 class was and trying to figure out a way to ask him for notes.

Back when it was soooooo easy to creep. I’d find myself 6 degrees out.

This does not seem like a good idea. Just the horror stories I’ve heard from people using other dating platforms, just sounds like another place for creeps to prey on people.

I just saw a story about a woman who killed herself after wiring $93,000 to a guy she met online who was impersonating a soldier. He apparently was a part of a crew claiming to be soldiers paid in gold bars and they needed money to get the bars over to the US or some other nonsense. I think the group ended up scamming people for a couple of million.

I don't think that's something you can really blame dating apps for. If they all used identity verification, sure, but there's also downsides to that. Creeps will find a way to prey on people no matter what.

yeahhhhh... as someone who works for a dating app I don’t think Facebook knows what they’re getting themselves into lol

I see some weird shit at my job and I cannot even imagine building a dating platform for the type of person who still uses Facebook on the regular. AND regularly enough to want to use it for dating??? good luck y’all

Never have I been more glad to be married to my high school sweetheart because I could not deal with this at all.

Engaged to a former coworker I met in college ten years ago. I'm so glad I never had to deal with online dating.

I reconnected with a friend from high school on Facebook in 2005 and now he's my husband. I'm so glad we avoided alllll this, though.
