- Discusses choosing a musical arrangement for Crocodile Rock to suit the story. - Talks about how he was anxious the film would be a disaster. - Points out his ass looks huge in the overalls.
I liked this movie a lot. I thought it was much better than Bohemian Rhapsody, and Taron was incredible as Elton. I'm sure he'll get snubbed come Oscar season though.
it sucks that taron or the movie in general probably won't get as much recognition as it should come awards time because everyone went crazy last year for rami and bohemian rhapsody. maybe if it was a few award seasons apart but i doubt one after another. hopefully he and the movie will at least get an oscar nom even if they don't win any.
idk i could be biased. the one thing i really like about the movie is the theme of overcoming your demons and learning self love, something that plays a big role in my own therapy, so the movie really spoke to me. i've heard comments irl along the lines of how "it was too serious and depressing" which well duh he went through very hard times in his life. but i feel like the ending was everything but depressing. ending it on "i'm still standing" was a happy note because after everything elton went through the song was showing that he made it, he wasn't giving up, and he was moving forward. anyway thank you for coming to my ted ontd talk.
I agree with you but I also had the feeling that, with how his terrible personal life was a big theme in the movie, people were waiting for the movie to end with Elton meeting his husband and being ~happily in love. And we know that happened from the text at the end, but I feel that if it was a short cute scene at the end people would find the story more uplifting (and ultimately it is IRL, Elton had a lot of professional and personal success after I'm Still Standing)
