Did Taylor Swift Steal From a Hilary Duff Song... AGAIN?!? (Thieve In. Thieve Out. '19)

Back in 2017 when Taylor Swift's 6th album reputation was released, ONTD pointed out that the song "Getaway Car" (written by Swift & Jack Antonoff) jacked a unique lyric from Hilary Duff's 2015 song "Breathe In. Breathe Out." In a (now deleted) article it was noted that Swift herself admitted on her tumblr page to hearing "Breathe In. Breathe Out" and that it was her favorite on Duff's then new album:

The story was picked up by Seventeen, Rolling Stone, Glamour and more, though Swift didn't seem to face any consequences or credit the original songwriters.

Well, with today's release of Swift's 7th album, Lover comes another comparison... to the EXACT SAME Duff song. Now fans have been pointing out the clear similarities between the verse melodies of "Breathe In. Breathe Out." and "Paper Rings" (written by... Taylor Swift & Jack Antonoff):

Am I nuts or did Taylor Swift steal from the same Hilary Duff song for two albums in a row? This time it's the verse melody. Here's a comparison of Paper Rings (2019) and Breathe In. Breathe Out. (2015): pic.twitter.com/od0ly2rRjH

Listen to Hilary Duff’s song “Breathe In Breathe Out” and then listen to Taylor Swift’s “Paper Rings”

You can’t tell me that these two songs don’t sound the same. pic.twitter.com/diY348QpXq

Matthew Koma, "Breathe In. Breathe Out." songwriter (and Duff's baby daddy / fiancé) even liked a post asking if he (and co-writer Dan Book) are getting paid for this plagiarism:

(he has since unliked the post)

OUTSIDE SOURCES: by all means, steal this post, but please don't use cutesy words that infer that Taylor is paying tribute to Duff... if the writer's aren't getting paid then this is straight plagiarism, especially considering Swift's past with the song!

ONTD: Do you think the songs sound the same? Should Swift and Jack Antonoff (Getaway Car & Paper Rings) pay up / give credit?
