72 in winter

Like, 78 in summer

My mom used to put the thermostat down to 50 on winter nights. ;___;

My mom used to (and probably still does) turn the thermostat OFF on winter nights unless it was getting down into the 20s or below, then she'd put it at 50. Her reasoning was that we should all be warm and snuggly under blankets so what do we need the heat on for?

I just don't get keeping it that warm? Like sometimes when the AC where we work doesn't work and the room temp is high 70s or low 80s, I want to pass out. My Florida friends I talk to online all say they keep the thermostat around 75 or even higher. *shrug emoji*

I have one AC in my apartment, in my bedroom. I only put it on at night. About 68 or 69 does it for me. In my living room I have a window fan that works really well in cooling down the room.

Yeah I’m in Florida and keep it at 76. That’s cold for me. 😂 And in the summer a degree or two can make a huge difference on the electric bill too.

oh yeah i cant imagine how much it costs esp if a home has central air! whenever i go stay at my sister's in florida their house feels really cold, so i wonder what they kept their thermostat on. i have to ask them now lol

Oh god I could not live without central A/C I would die. The most our electric bill gets is about $200 a month and that’s like this month and next. It’s about $100 in the winter which isn’t too bad. Our house has energy-efficient windows and shiz but is almost 2,000 square feet, and we don’t pay much more than when we lived in a 780 sq ft apartment thankfully.

my apt gets disgustingly humid so i set my window unit to 73 but since it's right next to my bed i switch it to fan mode when i go to sleep because i'd be too cold otherwise. i tend to run cold in general.

i turn it off during the day but i worry whether my cat will get overheated :(

my thermometer in the living room says it's 79 overall so i guess that's my optimal ambient temp

Same, it also sucks that APS only makes super off peak hours during winter as well rather than summer. The only downside to AC during the summer is the expensive bill.

Same state and that's where mine is, too. Especially on our lovely 114 degree days, you literally get sick if you don't have your thermostat set right.

The rec they are giving for a high sleeping temperature conflicts with the medical advice for good healthy sleeping. It should be colder.
