Michael Jackson fans get #LiesofLeavingNeverland trending in multiple countries

Aug 18, 2019 17:10

#LiesOfLeavingNeverland is now officially #4 trending in the U.S. (unfiltered) with more than 21.5K active tweets.

And it didn't even take the backing of a massive media publicity agent, two giant TV networks, a gaggle of blue ticks or Oprah Winfrey to get there.

Just facts.

that account sucks, for a long time it was just videos and articles of sexual assault survivors attacking their abusers to "prove" how "real" victims act.

In general, people don't understand that people react to similar experiences in different ways, or even don't experience mental health issues the same way. I see a lot of "well I have x, y, z or that happened to me and I don't do that/that's not one of my symptoms", you have to be able to see beyond yourself and your own experiences.

I’m seeing that so much in USA gymnastics. Once the dam broke w Nassar and the Karolyis finally fucking off more accusations have been getting traction and so many responses are “well they didn’t abuse ME” or “that’s just the way they are and I’m fine” and it’s like that’s not how this fucking works. Especially with a huge power dynamic. If someone has trauma from being abused, you don’t get to decide they weren’t based off of your own anecdotes

Well, YNB defended Chris Hardwick, so this isn't a surprise coming from her.
