i'm really not feeling the new sleater-kinney stuff tbh :( i feel like i like the production but if someone else was singing or if st vincent was lol. her production work is def all over it. also the whole janet weiss thing is weird. from the couple of interviews i've read where carrie talks about what happened it still feels like she's def not telling the truth. i can understand wanting to keep details private tho on both ends

anyways i need the new bat for lashes album already. i've been playing kids in the dark and the hunger so much. also same goes for muna.

yeah, same here. I was sooo excited and bought a ticket to see the tour and then started to hear the new stuff and...ehhh. And the Janet situation is super upsetting, she’s just a next level drummer. After reading carrie’s memoir I def think what you’re saying is spot on about her handling of it too.

i read an interview with him recently that would definitely seem to indicate it is....i'm so excited, Love & Hate was one of my favourite albums of 2016, i can't wait to see what he does next.

Looking forward to the Sleater-Kinney album on Friday.

I feel like a lot of Vivian Girls songs (the singles, anyway) sound the same? It's not a bad sound, but kind of repetitive. I read a recent interview with them where they talked about how indie music was a real boys club when they first broke out, and that's one of the reasons they stopped making music, which is shitty.

Ever since the Better Oblivion show last weekend, I've been watching/listening to live concert videos of BOCC, and Conor solo, and Phoebe solo. My favorites are the professionally recorded concerts, like this

because you get the live music vibe without having to leave your house, and it sounds a ton better than a fan recording from the audience (though I watch the shit out of those, too

i'm excited for new sleater-kinney too, especially because i think it will be a while if we get another album from them.

i agree, but part of me was also happy about the break up because i enjoy frankie rose so much as a solo artist and iirc, she mentioned a while back that she probably wouldn't have gone solo if the band hadn't broken up.

i love professional live recordings too! it really does give you the vibe and sound quality of a live show with from the comfort of wherever you choose to watch. i also love unique arrangements and singular qualities of live performances.

Just gave them a listen! I like the Julien Chang song (gives me slight Fleet Foxes vibes), but the ding dongs from the Sean O'Hagan one is gonna be stuck in my head in a bad way for the rest of the day, lol. I've never heard of either of those artists before before!
