Mia Khalifa reveals she only made $12,000 as an adult film star

People think I’m racking in millions from porn. Completely untrue. I made a TOTAL of around $12,000 in the industry and never saw a penny again after that. Difficulty finding a normal job after quitting porn was... scary. Full interview here: https://t.co/xHK7SmhfrY pic.twitter.com/fwJlyzHznq

Mia Khalifa sparked a discussion on Twitter today as she shared her experiences working in the adult film industry. In the months she worked in the industry, she only made $12,000, earning an average of $1000 per video. She said it was difficult finding work afterwards. On August 10, she wrote that she had originally entered the industry because 'systematic conditioning' had led her to believe that she wasn't worthy if she was not desired by men.

To clarify, I was never promised “millions”, nor do I expect it. I’m just clarifying common misconceptions about me, and in turn, about the industry.

I was involved in porn so briefly, but my actions spread like wildfire, and I continue to be ranked (truly baffles me) 5 years after leaving the industry. This is why people think I still perform.

Doing porn wasn’t a conscious decision I woke up one day and decided would be fun. It was systematic conditioniting to make me feel like I wasn’t worthy unless a man desired me that ultimately pushed me to do it. https://t.co/0l1s9R0EVf
