I worked at Amazon during the first Prime Day. It's really just a way for Amazon and third-party sellers who use the fulfillment centers to try to sell out goods so that there is more space in the warehouse for the holiday season. Long-term storage fees for third-party sellers happen in August so those sellers try to get rid of as much as they can so that they don't have to pay the huge fee and they don't have to pay to have the items shipped back to them. It's always dumb shit that's on sale, too.
My external hard drive started making clicking noises so I needed to buy a new one ASAP... could have waited a day and got one on Prime Day, but I bought one at regular price instead!
