Yep. My husband ordered a new phone and it arrived today and came with a free google home hub. Im simultaneously amused by it and highly suspicious of it being in our house.

Yeah there was recently a minor scandal about some French blender that came with easily hackable microphones that weren't even advertised as being part of the product and that the company claimed to know nothing about.

The Pattern is eerily accurate as far astrology apps go lol. Or I guess they were since it has now crashed. Co-Star, on the other hand, is nuts. The push notifications they send say the craziest shit sometimes. The other day they told me “Ask people how they avoid being dead inside.”

I think all phones listen. My friends and I will be talking about some obscure topic, not googling it or anything, and suddenly you start getting related ads

yep. that happened to my sister after she and i were talking about those little funnel things they make for women to use to pee on road trips. then she started getting ads for them lol.

My weirdest experiences where I thought I was going crazy was when I bought, baked and ate an apple crumble pie and ended up getting adds for the exact same brand I bought the apple crumble pie from. Never said a word about the pie when I bought/ate it, just paid for it with my debit card.

Listening is one thing, but if it's something that you just saw, it's definitely a cognitive bias and not your phone seeing that you need new window film.
