I know hahaha. I wish I liked The Blacklist more so I could watch it for him but I gave up after the 2nd season. I think the first thing I saw him in post-Mean Girls was Pacific Rim and it was bugging me so much about where I recognised him from. He was gorg in PR too, I definitely swooned over Yancy for the v short time he was in the movie.
Sidebar, a very I guess emo part of me always wanted to see the fall of Janis out of the group into the girl we meet in the movie? Like a prequel of her just in the plastics and then it ending right as she & Regina have that faithful 'she's a lesbian' convo.
In any case, while fun this film and its themes HAVE NOT aged well? I feel like this is such a clear case of Tina's 'not like other/girly girls, eww' narrative of writing that carries over into literally everything she writes. Which isn't to say that there's something wrong with not being/liking traditional feminine things or having issue with the patriarchy that demands this from girls/women but how about riffing on that instead of dunking all the time on those girls by making them all bitchy, dumb or both?!
Honestly I like that she isn't a plastic in Janis it feels like she holds onto herself the real person she is irl the Jewish girl she really is. Not the hollywood girl that everyone wants
STORYTIME my last year of hs was hell. my lj got hacked and spread to everyone, my so called BFF turned out to be an emotionally abusive piece of shit and I came very close to killing myself. My English teacher offered me extra classes to help me get ready for uni and one of things she did was get me to watch this movie and write a paper on it and I think it was her trying to help me so even though I haven't seen the movie since but it holds a special place in my heart since I think she was trying to help me and I'll always remember her for that
Tldr I'm hiding in the washroom at a wedding rn so
Lol it's good I just don't really know anyone here other than the bride so I kind of wanted a break. And some other guest made dumb comments about me hiding during the single ladies dance lol
Lmao are you me? I’m always hiding out in the bathroom at social events once I’m tired of being around people. Sometimes I’ll disappear for too long but hey sometimes you just need a break

I really like the movie but if I'm being honest, aside from a few one liners, Jawbreaker has a bigger rewatch pull and is a better movie to me.
