Secret Life of Pets 2 was basically three episodes of a TV show entertwined together. It made me wonder whether Illumination is going to get a TV department like Dreamworks does at some point, because I feel like this is a universe that doesn’t really justify being cinematic in any way but fits as a TV show. The kids in my theater LOVED it though. And Kevin Hart is sooo annoying in this.
Dark Phoenix wasn’t as bad as I was expecting it to be? It wasn’t GOOD, but I was expecting it to be excruciating to sit through and it was mostly just boring. I’m glad they didn’t try to extend it over 2 hours. I did tear up a bit at the very last scene though (which I assume had to be a last minute add-on when they realized this would be the final X-Men film). There was a point when I loved this franchise and the last scene was a nice reminder of that to me.
Also Nic Hoult looked great when he was non-blue Hank. The glasses and sweaters look works for him.

Gonna try to see The Last Black Man in San Francisco this weekend, too. I'm pissed because I actually want to see Late Night, but it's not in any AMCs near me right now. But I think it will be as of next week when they go into wide release, so I'm just gonna have to wait.
When the fuck is Arclight or Landmark gonna go a subscription service?? Bc I will be the first in line.

Also the fact that Nicholas Hoult is playing a character in his fifties remains laughable. Same with Michael Fassbender playing someone who’s at least 60.
Anyway, despite some stinkers, I still really like the franchise overall. I’ve now seen all 12 of them in theatres.
