Jay Inslee - I'm curious to know if climate change is anything more than a talking point for him. I know he wrote a book about it at some point but has he proposed any transformative legislation? He's been in politics since the '90s.

Joaquin Castro - His record at HUD is kind of questionable considering gentrification got worse under his watch. A lot of activists were against Hillary picking him as her VP back in 2016 because HUD was selling off mortgages to Wall Street instead of helping communities of color.

Not a fan of Inslee but I would love to see Joaquin Castro on the debate stage. He says what he means and isn't afraid to go on the attack.

Interesting to see Mike Gravel with votes. Have I missed some big news about him?

All I know about Mike Gravel was that infamous, political ad from ten years ago where he stares intensely into the camera and then throws a rock into a pond.

I think he said he wasn't serious about getting the nomination, he just wants to be in the debates and push some left policies.

I mostly voted for him as a joke, but besides his weird sales tax plan, he's pretty progressive (and is blunt about it) and the only one out of this bunch that's explicitly anti-imperialist.

The 2020 Dem pool is a clown car. Where were these people in 2016?

They didn't want to go against Hillary and they thought she had it in the bag. I wish more people would have run in 2016.

The Clinton machine discouraged anyone else from running. She was the anointed one.

Lol as others said, it was #herturn, so no one else was allowed to run.

So like I've said before, I'm pretty ignorant on the process of wanting to be President. But for state representatives who know the political game, do they (democrats) not talk to each other about running? I'm mainly curious on if they have a plan on beating Trump because the number of candidates that announced, and who are still announcing, is pretty ridiculous. It's all really sloppy

A lot of these people aren't in it for the win. They're running for name recognition, book deals, money, etc. Literally all of them have a huge ego, though, which is preventing some of them from dropping out despite having no chance in hell at the actual nomination.
