I totally get that. Whenever I've auditioned for something and not been cast, especially if it's a role I really wanted, I can't go see the show. It's just not going to be a good experience for me because I'll spend the whole time comparing what I thought my performance would be to the person who got cast.

Ouch. I always think being fired from a project like this and seeing it go on to be super successful would be tough.
Like withwith Eric Stolz and Back to the Future or Lisa Kudrow and Frasier, it's got to be so much worse to start shooting something and get fired because they just don't like you. It's a more thorough rejection than if you just had a bad audition on an off day. At least if there is lateness or erratic behaviour like a Lindsay it's less personal.
Maybe I'm too sensitif but to have told people I got the part, created a character and be well into the rehearsal process that would be enough to have me step back for at least a few months even if I was Julliane Moore.
How are you supposed to get your hopes up for the next role knowing that the same could happen again?

...I'm glad Adrian Brody is such a douche, otherwise I'd feel super bad for him after reading this story.

That's wild, I had no idea about this. I can't imagine anyone but Melissa McCarthy in that role.
