Lol I love this post. As someone who grew up religious but now is not as much anymore (or who takes a very liberal approach to church/bible teachings), I live for pulling out bible quotes on the crazy zealots. Especially with this immigrant situation. I’ve been getting some good mileage out of Leviticus 19:33-34:
“Do not mistreat foreigners who are living in your land. Treat them as you would an Israelite, and love them as you love yourselves. Remember that you were once foreigners in the land of Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”
Of course I get nothing bc they have no retort. They just ignore it like any other verse that doesn’t jive with their shitty world views. But it’s still really fucking satisfying.
Seriously--I try to live secularly but the one belief I'm not ready to let go of is karmic retribution if not in this world than the next--in a weird way the last 2 years have made me want to believe in hell more than the past 30 combined
