The 22 biggest #GoldenGlobes snubs and surprises https://t.co/wmX4Vw0dVF

The 2019 Golden Globe nominations were announced, and as with any award show ever, some people and shows/films get snubs. While Variety lists 22, I'll highlight a few from those that were legit snubs, and not just BS nonsense.

In addition to the ones from Variety, two big snubs I noticed were Ethan Hawke for 'First Reformed', for which he got rave reviews (and the Gotham Award win), and Sam Elliott as supporting actor for 'A Star is Born' (who also got rave reviews despite being all mumbly in the movie).

-- SNUB: Julia Roberts, “Ben Is Back” - Julia got insanely amazing reviews for this when the movie premiered at film festivals early this fall, but got no recognition in at the Globes (though was nominated for 'Homecoming'). Same can be said for Lucas Hedges, but it looks like they're pushing him for 'Boy Erased' since he got a nod there.
-- SNUB: Natalie Portman, “Vox Lux” - this is primarily due to the HFPA saying they were going to put Natalie under lead when she's a supporting role in the movie, and as a result got snubbed I guess?
-- SNUB: Toni Collette, “Hereditary” - after her critically-acclaimed performance and Gotham Award win, it was speculated Toni would get a nod. However, voters aren't fans of horror films, so that probably worked against her.
-- SNUB: Viola Davis, “Widows” - Widows in general got snubbed, and given the not-so-hot box office numbers and how quickly hype for this fizzled, Viola and the movie probably won't go far, sadly, in the awards season.
-- SNUB: Sterling K. Brown, “This Is Us” - not just Sterling but the show in general was snubbed overall. Maybe the HFPA had enough of that schmaltzy shit (even if Sterling is great).
