Did the Sheezus early really go as badly as people are making out? I mean, she got a number one album from it, probably a fraction of the sales to previous albums but it’s not like it was a complete disaster.

I can't answer for financial and critical success, but I know her personal life during that time was a mess. Like she was cheating on her husband and had a problem with drugs.

It was a pretty crazy time in her life. Especially with her miscarriages, stillbirth and then giving birth to her daughters in a short time frame the hormones weren't making her life anything easier.
