After eight years and a very public salary negotiation, Emmy Rossum has announced she is leaving Shameless.

The ninth season premieres on September 9th. It's unclear if Rossum will appear in the entire season or if she will depart midway through (the show is being split in two parts this year). Showtime has confirmed Rossum will depart after

kind of weird to announce when they are still filming??? and before the season airs? there's no way her contract didn't require her to finish season 9, right?

something is kind of weird about this announcement. i barely watch this show anymore, but it sucks going into a season knowing it's the actor's last but not necessarily the shows last

I kinda expected this, but thought they'd announce it waaay later. They should really end this show. I love it, but it's time.
