My understanding (solely through ONTD) is that he actually has primary custody (/final say custody) and has been allowing her more time with the boys. But the whole thing with child support is that the kids are supposed to maintain the same lifestyle at both houses where they spend substantial time. That’s why you don’t see parents with every other weekend and Tuesday nights get child support regardless of the income difference. Also, from my tax classes, child support is based on income and the preset factors of how much a parent would be spending on a child if they were around them all the time. So if Britney has made more money in the past years, her child support should increase as well.

They have 50/50 physical custody, and in those situations child support is calculated so that the kids can maintain the same lifestyle between both parents. It's to stop unfairness around the lesser earning parent basically being pushed out from the kids' lives because they can't afford what their richer ex can.
