PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED Prince's original recording of "Nothing Compares 2 U"

For those who don't know the story, Prince wrote the song "Nothing Compares 2 U" and gave the song to a band he had assembled called The Family. The song was not released as a single by them, so the song was barely heard of by the general public. It wasn't until 1990, when Sinead O'Connor released a cover, that the song became huge. If I Was Your Girlfriend is iconic and a good example of the genius of Prince. Could you imagine a male artist making a similar song today? All the female interpretations of this song don’t have that same It factor as Prince’s version.

Little Red Corvette is my all time fav. Darling Nikki. Baby I’m A Star. Actually most of the Purple Rain album honestly. Also Raspberry Beret. I know he was trash but I fell in love with his music before I knew that. Same with David Bowie. They were both there for me at really dark times in my life and it makes me feel guilty that I can’t write them off knowing what I now know.

Speaking of, I'm glad I bought a secondhand copy of the soundtrack on vinyl rather than directly giving him money, knowing what I know now. :/

Purple Rain is perfection from beginning to end (album and song, as a matter of fact), but I have a huge soft spot for She's Always In My Hair.
