This year's winners for the Irish Film and TV Awards were announced, and included 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri', directed/written by British filmmaker Martin McDonagh, as well as Ireland's own Saoirse

I like some of their choices! Saoirse, Cillian (for Peaky Blinders), and Barry Keoghan. And a lifetime achievement award for Gabriel Byrne seems appropriate, I've always liked him in the roles I've seen him play.

Racism aside, "Three Billboards" is just a trash movie. It never truly succeeds its "dark comedy" tone, and it just feels like a poor imitation of a Coen brother film. It also had a very inauthentic voice when it came to small-town racism. It just felt like a movie written by a good-intentioned-but-out-of-touch liberal who watches a lot of movies but never stepped foot outside of LA or New York. /twocents

not off about the latter, though it's more of a british man who apparently took a bus ride in middle america and was randomly inspired to write a story about something he fucking knew nothing about.

Yeah I thought the whole story structure was a complete mess. The criticism of Rockwell's character's arc is totally valid, but it has so many other problems... It's like it wants to touch on all these "difficult"/"trendy" subjects (presumably to help sell the movie?) but doesn't actually have anything to say.

I can't believe 3b has won awards. I finally watched that shit and the only scene I liked was the bar scene towards the end bc I felt like I was watching a diff movie. Also sam and frances were nothing special
