Somewhat related I went to Spain last year and caught an episode of gym tony and I was shocked when I saw black face on tv. My sister and I were like wow they really don’t care.

Funny to see this post here! I've gotten hooked to Tu Cara me Suena since last month (ugh, I hate how addictive trash Spanish TV can be) and that was one of the things that shocked me, because they do black/brownface every week. Tracy Chapman was two weeks ago, but last week it was Beyoncé, the other week it was Jason Derulo, etc. It's a mess.

I've seen blackface in my country's version of this show too. It was revelatory in a way since there aren't many black people in this country so the racism usually targets other groups but why wouldn't it transfer to others too?
