are they fucking serious? every single person trying to defend this shit is out of their godforsaken mind.

you mean to tell me a movement mostly pushed and supported by black women is going to portrayed by not nary a black woman in sight? not even a few supporting roles? because your wife isn't black?

you know what, fuck all these people. and fuck freida too.

I feel bad for the journalist whose parents were a part of the black power movement having to even mention how fucked up this is.

i was getting more and more aggravated by his responses, and then:
part of why I chose to have a mixed race couple at the centre of this is that I’m in a mixed race relationship.

and now it all makes sense. smh i thought this series sounded intriguing, but this erasure of black women is nagl.

MTE. When I read that, I was like "well, of course".

Black women not having a voice in movies/TV in general is one thing, but not having one in a series about a black movement is fucking ridiculous. There's no defending that nonsense. Gtfo of here with that shit.

Even by this logic, I can't think of a group that is more "politically black" (I'll assume this means disenfranchised) than...black women, whom are nowhere to be found in this series about black political activism.

lmao these quotes are truly horrific, but to be fair (eh) she said it at the premiere when someone asked about her character being asian, not during this debate about black women
