Recently a co-worker said the Placebo version of Running Up That Hill is better than the original and in that moment I wanted to transfer.

I think its better than the original, but that's because the 80's style of the original doesn't appeal to me. I prefer a band {??????????} sound, more than like electro stuff going on....or whatever the heck they used in that time. It just doesn't touch my soul. It feels and sounds artificial.

A fairlight - which shaped and changed music and sampling as a whole once Peter Gabriel got his hands on it. That sound is still hard to recreate when anyone tries to cover Running Up That Hill, hence why anyone whose tried to cover it has no choice but to really make it something new. Zeppelin also used it. Running Up That Hill wasn't just 80's imo, it was an incredibly difficult song to make given the technology at the time and to me still sounds ahead of its time. She created her own genre at times which is why I think she's influenced so many electronic artists too.

I adore the original and it is superior but Placebo's version is not so bad in my opinion.

on par, to be honest. i love both, but brian molko's vocals gives it a hopeless/sinister vibe.
