srs ? about me

I dunno if this is TMI or whatever, but when I take a hot bath to relax, it takes me a long time to calm down after my bath.Like, my heart is racing like crazy and my legs are all jello and I'm all flushed and totally out of it. I had to take extreme caution putting out my candles, and making my way to my room. It took me like 10 minutes cuz I ( Read more... )

Honestly? Different bodies are different.

When you enter a warm environment, your blood vessels dilate (you "open up"). Among other things, the vessels do this in an attempt to dissipate heat.

When you enter a cold (or colder) environment, your blood vessels constrict (you close up). Blood flow to your limbs (and, for me, particularly the hands) gets restricted to keep that precious body heat in the core of the body.

When you're moving from one to the other, your body might be overreacting before it finds the new equilibrium that allows you to have a healthy blood pressure that feeds your brain with all the oxygen it needs.

Keep in mind that this is a guess. I'm not a doctor at this time.

I get this same thing all the time. Now granted for me it's partially related to my heart condition and all it's crazy co-morbid health issues, but the same types of things could be happening even without that. Technically it's a health risk to be above a certain temp for more than 10 minutes (I think that's the amount of time at least). What I tend to do since I always make my baths really hot is after the first few minutes I add a little cold water to bring it down to a more normal temp. Tends to help with that without ruining the whole thing ;)

The same thing happens to me. I LOVE hot baths (when I don't have a ghetto bath tub), and when I get out I'm all light headed, with the jello legs, just like you described.

From what I can tell from some quick research, sitting in hot water for too long (raising your body temperature) will raise your blood pressure.

Hey man, we both already talked about how vehicular sex is not the best for tall people, now you're suggesting it in an even SMALLER car?
