*Marco sighs. He sounds tired*

Alright. A lot of you are already volunteering to help, but the problem is we don't have a plan. Nor does attempting to make plans in various entries on shipNET really help us. We need to all get together and go over this at once, instead of try to bring together all the scattered ideas ( Read more... )

[It's not like she's doing anything else, and the Rowan can hear Vanyel from a few decks up as easily as she can her room, so she casts her mind out to explore. She treats it like a child's practice exercise, building a mental picture slowly, without attempting to visualize the entire deck at once. It's frustratingly slow going, but clairvoyance has never been her strongest Talent, and she certainly doesn't want to miss her mark.

With a picture of Deck One fixed firmly in her mind, the Rowan stands, and teleports herself there. Telekinesis is one of her strongest Talents, and the 'port is smooth and lands her exactly where she wanted to be.

At this point, she realizes she doesn't actually know Marco's name, so she starts scanning the deck for people.]

[The Rowan snorts. Talents tend to be straightforward, since lying to their peers is futile.]

I'll be trying a mind merge with Vanyel when he has the time.

[She stretches, then slumps in her chair.]

If it's possible, I can do it.

[She's quite confident about that. Being a powerful Talent is her job, after all.]

*Marco is almost never straightforward. The idea of being so to someone is a bit daunting and confusing.*

Alright. Thanks a lot, then.

*He's not so sure about her confidence, but is willing to let her try. It probably wouldn't hurt (him)*

Your vote of confidence is appreciated.

[She says it dryly, looking sidelong at him, as she picks up how dubious he's feeling about the matter.]

*Its not just her, he's dubious about the whole damned thing.*

I do mean it.

*As much as he can at the moment, when is more of a 'thank you for trying' than a 'thanks i'm sure it will help'*

Don't mention it.

Worst case, it knocks me unconscious and someone has to carry me home.

[The Rowan shrugs. She's small and very slightly built. Any healthy adult man could carry her, and quite a few women would be able to pull it off, too.]

*Marco looks her over for a moment; he's pretty sure he could carry her if he had to*

Alright. I hope it works out anyway.

*That one's not at all a lie*

Do you know what you're going to do once I incapacitate her?

[She has some vague idea about a syringe full of sedatives or such.]

Not yet, no. I was hoping to get more input on that. The crew has warned us not to harm her, but I'm not sure if that can be trusted. And just subduing her doesn't have to harm her.

How long do you think you might be able to keep her down?

[The Rowan chews at her lip.]

That I don't know.

Where I'm from, it takes a lot of juice to project to a non-sensitive.
So she's strong, I think. But I don't know how much endurance she has, or how much training, and right now, I don't know how much endurance I have.

It's a matter of how quickly she's able to tire me out, and I can't predict that. I'm very skilled, and being able to draw on Vanyel and Renna will help.

[She sighs.]

Best case, I can knock her out. Worst case, I'll bounce off her shields. But even if that happens, if we can get her targeting me, I'm much better at fighting off a psychic attack than any non-telepath would be.

...I didn't answer your question. Sorry. There's just too much uncertainty.

No, but it was useful information anyway. I guess we'll have to see how well you can, uh, draw on Vanyel and Renna before deciding how to handle it.

It's much the same thing as getting a bunch of people to cooperate on lifting something heavy. How much help they'll be depends both on how strong they are and how well they're trained to use that strength.

[The Rowan's warming to the challenge. If the situation weren't so dire, it might almost have been fun.]

I see.

*Sort of, at least, since he figures he can never do it. But it might be interesting to look into if he ends up with nothing better to do again*

What about help from people who can't use telepathy but can use other powers?

If it works like Talent does, I should be able to draw on them. If not...

[She shrugs.]

I'd have to try it to know.

*He nods*

Makes sense. I guess we just have to wait till you find people willing to try, then.

How soon were you planning to act? I want to be doing this on a solid night's sleep, if possible.

[She's the psychic equivalent of a world-class triathlete, but in her current state, trying this is going to be like running the Iron Man with a bad chest cold.]
