Random: The Discovery of the Staffordshire Hoard

Holy Moses! It is now being announced that in July, a massive, unprecedented hoard of Anglo-Saxon art in gold, silver, and precious stones was unearthed in Straffordshire. SO COOL. I am a sucker for anything Anglo-Saxon. Absolute sucker. So now I want to prowl around the hoard and not teach my Jane Austen class. Thanks for sharing... this kinda made my day. Just a little bit.

Glad to hear you enjoyed the news as much as you did, although I hope this didn't stop you from teaching. (Especially Northanger Abbey, which friede just got me to read for the first time in the last year, with a hand-annotated copy, no less, and which I thoroughly enjoyed.)
