long entry is long

YouTube is trying to make me watch a video of an Italian player diving during the World Cup, because it's apparently hilarious. You know what, YouTube? I'm actually sort of sick of watching the Italians throwing themselves everywhere. (And yes, okay, I know it's not just the Italians, please don't get offended at me. I am Italian! Sort of. A ways ( Read more... )

I sort of fell in love with your country a few years back, to be honest. I love the accent, I love the landscape, I love...everything, really. Oh yeah, and especially your attractive soccer players. :D

i grew up watching rugby (union&league) so have always been pretty wtf at the drama when a soccer player (?) hurts themselves. :P

(my husband literally walked off from a league game with blood pouring down his face out of his eyebrow and shrugged and said, 'it's just a scratch'. (needed glue and butterfly-y things because he couldn't be bothered going to get it stitched). so yeah. i'm SO NOT into macho-ism, but i also don't get the attention whore-y thing.)

excuse me from the meme, please miss. those things make me nervous.

I'm the same way because of hockey! I mean, yes, in hockey you wear padding, but you also get up and keep playing unless you are really, really injured.

They make you nervous? May I ask why? (I totally don't mind you not doing it, obviously.)

i just... my brain doesn't work that way, i think? so i don't know even how to start. and i feel myself getting anxious even thinking about it. i have no idea, really. :P plus, 'steps' (looking/deciding/finding/saving/html-ing). basically my mental comes to the fore. :P :P :P

Ugh, the World Cup. So many mixed feelings. Although, from all the discussions on SBS right now, you'd think one of the Australian players had died or something :\ It's certainly made things more interesting than if we hadn't been totally slaughtered by Germany though...

Also, you should really watch that Italian diving video. If it's the one I think you're talking about, it's freaking hilarious (and shameless omg).

What, really? And yeah, that was not a good game...I'm not sure what happened. Though that red card seemed undeserved.

The one where they're practicing diving, you mean?

The main issue I think was that the coach decided the formation that had got us all the way through the qualifiers was too predictable against Germany so he swapped it around and had a lot of the players playing in positions they're not supposed to play. And yeah, a yellow card would have been fine, really. Now we're without one of our best players for the next game that we pretty much have to win to stand at least a tiny chance of getting to the next round. /rant

Oh, not that one. The one I'm talking about is at the beginning of this.

Fingers crossed, I guess?

Oh man, that video is hilarious. But depressingly true. I mean, that initial clip is appalling - I actually watched that game, and as soon as he went down I was shouting at the screen.

Um, I'm totally cheering for New Zealand, just so you know. After that, I'm kind of unsure...possibly the Netherlands?
I approve of both these choices! NZ are kinda underdoggy, but I hope they'll do well. And the Original Orange Bros better kick some ass.

And people were complaining that the halves were too long.
O-kay. :| :|

And hmmm, that's an interesting meme. I'm not sure I actually form fully fleshed-out physical images of LJ'ers. But I shall enter a few characteristics/adjectives in google image search and see what I come up with. ...Oh, this works:

Gotta love the underdogs! And yes, though I am still so amused that you're referring to the Netherlands team like that.

EXACTLY! I mean, god, I could play for three hours. All day. Not physically - I am so unfit - but I just really love the game.

Well that's a pretty cool picture! I seem very chill and carefree, which I totally appreciate. (Yesterday my friend and I were driving over this bridge, headed to a picnic, and all of a sudden these bubbles appeared. It was the person in the car in front of us, just trailing a bubble wand out the window as they drove along. Made my day.)

Oh god. Well, here's one with willowbell; in a comment further down I linked her to the others.

Did you watch it? Did you like it?

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuude, that's gorgeous. Well played, person in the car in front of you!

\o/\o/ I very much look forward to reading those.

And yes, I just watched the PS video. So heart-wrenching and beautifully shot! (I think my favorite is the dude at 3:00 (and not only because I love his hair-glasses-smile-everything :D).

I didn't, no! I am so behind on games, it's sort of killing me.

Oh man, I forgot about him! But I can see how you love him; I love the way he ducks a little and whispers.

I don't really know football enough to follow a particular team. I'm just sticking with England and hope we don't embarrass ourselves too badly. /o\ Some level of embarrassment is to be expected though.

And what a cool meme! HHMM. I don't know anything about her as a person, but Daisy Lowe? Something about the way she carries herself/her style.

I don't follow soccer at all, to be honest. I mean, I will happily watch a game if it's one, but I'm not really invested, and Canada isn't exactly a soccer power. Why do you think England is going to embarrass itself?

Wow, she seems pretty badass! And clearly you have overestimated my coolness level by about a million. But thank you!

My dad is crazy about football so I usually watch it with him. Now that he's not home it's more habit than anything else XD Usually I only start watching from the final 16 since that's when it gets exciting.

England is always pretty embarrassing! I can't even remember the last time they made it into the semi-finals. The media is calling this the best team to date though, with a new manager and great players. I hope they live up to the hype!

She seems really chill, which is what comes to mind about you! ♥

Yeah, I understand that. At the moment I'm just struggling trying to keep track of everything.

Look, okay - at least you make it to the World Cup.

Ahaha, if only people IRL knew that I somehow come across as chill. ♥
