Loki/other, Loki needs cuddles all the time

In which my deep seated belief that Loki just needs a hug, is taking to ridiculous levels and we get to play with Jotun biology some more
The Jornar are a very physical species who sleep in puppy piles. Loki doesn't know about that. He just knows that ever since his parents decided he needed his own room, he's been feeling extremely stressed and having trouble sleeping. Cue him sneaking into Thor's room to cuddle. Of course once he hits puberty he figures out people will let him cuddle if he has sex with them first. Cue Loki shagging half of Asgard while viewing the sex as something to get through to get to the good bit.
Thor is the only one who will give him what he needs without expecting anything in return... until one day he does.
+1 if Fandral and/or Balder are Loki's go to guys. +10 if Sif once kicked Loki out of bed after sex and he never forgave her.

[OKAY HI. I have a few pressing things I want to point out so as to avoid confusion: 1. Svadilfari is a shapeshifter in this fill; he's an important plot point and I promise there is no bestiality in this fill. Here is a visual reference, courtesy of phobs-heh[at]tumblr. 2. This is mostly compliant with the movie and the myths, and marginally reliant on the comics, but halfway through it I ditched the timeline because it's impossible to reconcile all of them :x
There's not much sex going on in this fill but there will be in the future! Esp with Sif and Balder.] ---------------------------------
For a full century, the second prince of Asgard slept between the All-Father and the Queen. There were many reasons for this, the first and foremost being his infancy, the second his safety (for while Thor was their firstborn, the boy will manage well enough with an entire retinue of royal guards standing watch in his room). Loki, the younger prince was named, charted after the stars that winked in and out like a game of skipping stones

Despite Frigga's reluctance, the All-Father decides, when Loki is but three centuries old, that his second son is ready to share quarters with his brother. Thor is gleeful for the news; sleeping alone may seem kingly to his young mind, but with a strong holler that implies an earth-shaking roar in the years to come he proclaims it the best thing in all of Asgard that he shall now be protector of its halls and of its second prince. He will make his father proud, he says, and will teach Loki all the things a prince must know; Thor does this exactly, slightly deluded as he is, by retelling all his favorite tales of war every night for a fortnight until Loki is begging at Frigga's knee, tearfully wailing at his mother to let him return to the King's bed

Svadilfari pulls away then, not before leaving a mark on the young prince's shoulder with his teeth. "Already you are with trickery, Prince Loki. You need not learn any more."
"I want to, though. I only wish to know half as much as you do," Loki sighs. Suddenly his skin is too cold, bereft of any warmth that Svadilfari's fingers have brought. "You are a wanderer, aren't you? A halfling. That giant you call your master, you're capable of more than what he can ever accomplish."
The kiss to his forehead is a surprise, the hand on Loki's cheek even more. "He is my master, and my father, and my lord and king."
"Nonsense; Father is King of all."
"People are what we make of them, Prince Loki." Svadilfari stands now, and helps Loki to his feet, turning his head away as Loki rights his clothes and fastenings out of respect to his birthright. "Simply because he is king doesn't make the All-Father my king

Balder seats himself at Loki's side, and blindly wanders into his dark mood.
"I shall give you boils where you cannot reach to soothe them, Balder," Loki threatens, as he flips a page of his book. "I have no patience for your cheer today."
"You never have patience for anything in the morning, Loki," Balder comments, ever calm. In his hand is a flute; that he dared bring a flute to the library speaks of either his great stupidity, or his misidentified bravery. Loki mentally cursed Balder's invincibility, ripping a page from his notebook with a vicious flourish. "Every morning you are as unmanageable as a troll."
Loki makes his notes, tucks his legs closer to himself where he sits on the wide ledge of the window. "What's your point?"
"Is there something that troubles you?"
"You trouble me," Loki near-hisses. "You walk the halls oblivious to the world around you, playing your music to the animals and making friends with them, and Thor- THOR!- lets you carry on like an oaf! They all do! You look so disgustingly stupid it's-" Loki

Op here: I would have loved this fill just for what you've done with Svadilfari and you've give us so much more then that! It's like you crawled into my head, took all my hopes for this prompt and improved on them infinitely!!! Loki being quietly stressed out! Library cuddles with Balder! Again: SVADILFARI!!!
It's always been my head canon that immortal Aesir/Jotun types probably age slowly and you've used it to set up some lovely family moments.

HELLO DEAR OP I love your prompt so very much, I hope I don't fail you later on. ;;
I think the same re: Aesir/Jotun aging, too, they can live for so long they probably age at a really glacial pace. As do their maturity, ahaha, oh Thor. And NGL I think the fanart impressed me so much I just ended up wanting humanized!Svadi written all the time, but there's like. None of it at all. :(

Oh wow, this is fantastic! I'll ship Loki with anyone, but I'll especially ship him napping with Balder! And Svadilfari! I love that art and I'm thrilled to see you use it. ♥
Re: a mountain of ice, 6/?kitbullAugust 30 2011, 16:07:01 UTC
Thank you! The tale of Balder's death has always been my favorite as a kid, it was the first Norse myth I ever read - I'm gonna admit right away that when I watched the Thor movie I had no idea about the comics, and my first reaction was "where did Balder go D:" ...Now I'm like halfway through compiling all of the Thor issues and weeping at the Son of Asgard and early JIM storylines, a bloo bloo ;A;!
derp sorry for the nerdery ALSO PHOBS' ART IS GORGEOUS i can stare at her work all day. ALL DAY.
