I really enjoyed this. You captured the mood of the book very well. I wish the film would have included more Ree and Gail. Even though the book was sparse on actual details it did strongly suggest they had some sort of sexual relationship with each other, which the film never really even hinted at. But this was a lovely piece of writing.

Thank you! That's awesome you liked it. I agree about the film and how they parred down the grils story arc so much. Having said that I sort of get why they did it with regards to the focus they decided to take and there was only room for so much of the book's plot. I do wish they'd explored their dynamic more, but I loved the film all the same.

Thanks very much! It's always nice to get a repsonse on something written a while ago that you assume everyone's dsinterested in. The book is really amazing and also very short, you could probably read it in a day. Hope you enjoy it.

Ree/Gail was one of my favourite things in Winter's Bone. Great to see it so well-written and fitting so seamlessly with canon.

Thank you! So glad you enjoyed it. And I agree, they had a very intersting dynamic that you don't get to read very often let alone see on the big screen.

I loved this. I just finished reading the book last night and I will watch the film today. You captured the writing style seamlessly and it fit perfectly with the canon. In the book I really was expecting something like this to happen but it never did, this is so believable and I just absolutely adored it!

So glad you thought it fit with the book. Woodrell's writing style is at once sparse and immense, I love it and wish I had even a fraction of his talent. I thought that while it was never explicitly stated that ree and gail got it on, it was hinted at, and figured that this would have been a more than likely time frame for it have occured in.

This is perfect. it captures everything Winter's bone is. It's not at all sentimental which can easily happen writing things like this but deeply emotional and real.Thank you for this.
